Driving Independence for Families in Need
Wheels for Work: Empowering Families Through Reliable Transportation
The Wheels for Work program provides a vital service to individuals in need by offering access to reliable transportation. We purchase used vehicles for carefully selected recipients who either have secured employment or are on the verge of starting a job but lack the means to commute.
The program typically serves refugee families striving for financial independence, survivors of domestic trauma rebuilding their lives, and individuals working to overcome significant challenges. By providing access to transportation, Wheels for Work helps families break the cycle of poverty and move toward self-sufficiency.
Changing Lives, One Vehicle at a Time
Alhamdulillah, this program has had a profound impact on the lives of many. Stories include individuals who were unable to secure employment due to a lack of transportation, workers spending up to four hours on a one-way bus trip to work at a grocery store, and families living in unsafe, industrial areas just so they could walk to their jobs. In critical moments, such as taking a sick family member to the hospital, access to a vehicle has made all the difference.
Here are some testimonials from beneficiaries:
“We pray for you every day, especially every time I go to work to earn an income,” shared a grateful recipient from Massachusetts.
“I could work my entire life and never fully repay the support Radiant Hands has provided,” expressed another individual.
"I am so happy with the support I received, which has not only transformed my life but also enabled me to help my neighbors by providing them with rides to work and assisting with grocery shopping," said one of the beneficiaries.
Through this program, we continue to drive independence and uplift families in need, one car at a time.
How the Program Works
We maintain a list of deserving candidates based on strict eligibility criteria and have partnered with local used-car dealers who purchase vehicles at auctions, perform minor repairs, and sell them at minimal cost. The car is registered under the beneficiary’s name, and we assist with insurance, driver training, and licensing. Each beneficiary signs a promissory note agreeing to repay the amount in manageable installments, fostering a sense of responsibility while the collected funds are reinvested to support additional beneficiaries on the waiting list.
Donate Now! Seed a Brighter Future for Families
Every dollar of your donation is utilized effectively, covering the costs of vehicle purchases, initial repairs, and registration. All beneficiaries are eligible for Zakat, and since they own the vehicles, this program fully aligns with the principles of Zakat.
